Dr. Narayanan Ramesh serves as the managing member of PGS. He is board-certified in psychiatry and is also certified by the American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology. He graduated from Annamalai University Medical School in India where he received a gold medal for being the most outstanding student. Dr. Ramesh completed his psychiatric training at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt program. He has served as Department Chair at Montgomery General Hospital Department of Psychiatry and Medical Director for Potomac Ridge Group Homes. Dr. Ramesh maintains an active outpatient practice in his Gaithersburg and Silver Spring Offices.
Dr. Kirk Denicoff serves as a partner. He is board-certified in psychiatry. He graduated from Brown University Medical School and completed his psychiatric training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He completed a clinical research fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). After his research fellowship he served as the Chief of the Outpatient Clinic of the Mood and Anxiety Disorders Program at the NIMH. Dr. Denicoff maintains an active outpatient practice in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Naveen Maddineni attended medical school at Mysore University. He completed neuropsychiatry residency training in Chicago Medical School. He is trained in adult psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, addictions and neurobehavioral developmental illness. He is board-certified in psychiatry and is licensed to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He works in inpatient psychiatry at Providence Hospital and practices in an outpatient clinic providing care to adult psychiatric patients and patients with neurobehavioral developmental issues. He practices geriatric psychiatry at various long-term care facilities.
Dr. Umar Rahman serves as a partner at PGS and provides psychiatric services to the nursing homes in Prince George’s County. He is board-certified in Psychiatry and completed his psychiatry residency training at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, D.C., and then completed fellowship training in geriatric psychiatry and consultation-liaison psychiatry at University of Maryland at Baltimore. He served as the chief resident during his psychiatry training at St. Elizabeths Hospital and received the Pfizer resident of the year award during that time. He has been affiliated with PGS since 2005. In addition to providing psychiatric care in long-term care settings, he also has experience in acute inpatient psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, and community outpatient psychiatrist.
Dr. Cynthia D. Munshell has been a licensed psychologist in the state of Maryland since 1993. She earned her doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed her internship at the Durham VA. She currently serves as the Director for Psychotherapy Services for PsychoGeriatric Services, LLC, and delivers clinical services and consultation in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and sub-acute rehabilitation centers. Dr. Munshell has served on the faculties of Johns Hopkins Medical Center, University of Baltimore, and the University of Maryland, University College where she was the Academic Director for Gerontology and Social Sciences. Dr. Munshell has also worked in the addictions field and has extensive experience in working with children and families.
Dr. Melvin Stern (retired) is the founder of PGS and continues to serve as a consultant to the organization. Dr. Stern is board-certified in Geriatric Psychiatry. He graduated from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his residency at Harvard University – Massachusetts Mental Health Center. He was a Clinical Associate at the National Institute of Mental Health. Dr. Stern serves as Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at George Washington University School of Medicine. He was selected as Teacher of the Year on two occasions. He has been listed in the Washingtonian’s group of Top Doctors.
