About Us
PGS views its professionals and their services as an integral part of the team that provides the total care to the residents. As team members, PGS professionals provide a number of additional services to facilities and their staff aimed at enhancing communication and assuring that psychiatric care complements the resident's overall care plan.
To assure that all care is integrated and appropriate, PGS employs or retains professionals that meet the following criteria:
The unique presentations of psychopathology, when accompanied by dementia or medical complications, require that effective psychopharmacological treatment be provided by psychiatrists and nurse clinicians with training and/or with experience in treating the elderly.
PGS hires clinicians who have experience providing mental health services in Maryland. This emphasis assures the facility that the psychiatrists with PGS have knowledge of the community, acquaintance with other physicians in the community, and a thorough knowledge of the community's practices and standards as well as available resources.
PGS professionals, psychiatrists and allied mental health professionals must agree to visit facilities on a routine and scheduled basis. This provides consistency to both residents and staff. Facility staff know whom to expect and when they can expect them.
All PGS professionals must meet exacting credentialing requirements in terms of education, licensure, and professional liability coverage and history.
PGS psychiatrists and management team are committed to responding to urgent patient care needs 7 days per week and 365 days per year.
